Frequently Asked Questions

How Does It Work?

Traditional Chinese Medicine is based on the fundamental theories of Yin and Yang, the five elements and vital substances of: Qi, Blood, Jing and Fluids.

The body is viewed as "holistic", being interconnected by meridians that supply and distribute vital substances throughout the body. Acupuncture is able to access and manipulate Qi with the needle while herbs are systemic.

Illness occurs when there are blockages or imbalances in the body due to external or internal stressors.

Like the changes of seasons, our bodies adapt to environmental as well as internal stressors to maintain homeostasis and good health.  Acupuncture and herbs promotes this natural approach in restorative or preventive way.

Western research shows that acupuncture stimulates the release of endorphins which are natural pain killers as well as nor epinephrine and serotonin to improve mood as well as the release of cortisol to lower inflammation and promote healing.
